Keeping up ..

February 28, 2007 Leave a comment

Bad days… got something to do and I have scarcely the energy and focus needed to do it.. closing up projects… still, I am trying to build up the right engine, so my gym is having me quite often these days…

BUT, nonetheless, there are interesting stuff to read about… will add at a later stage, maybe tomorrow morning, about some issues on Artificial Intelligence and transhumanism, technology singularity and the opportunity to understand why someone would like to live forever..

Not that I adore the idea to leave this valley of grief and sorrow, but forever sounds an awfully long time…

About time to go through some pages of the freediving manual, just to get ready for the coming Springtime, with its warm(ish) water and booming sealife..

More news will come over my snowboarding skills later next week, this Saturday we will hit the Italian Alps, Livigno, to revamp my cutbacks…

Back to basics…

This is almost unbelievable..we are back again to the old issues about the Italians being absolutely unable to run a smooth goverment spell for more than a few months.. this time is almost beyond acceptance.. the left coalition went burst for a sort of ideologic pub-like squabble over the fact that United States claimed a larger military base in the North of Italy, and also about the opportunity to keep on running military operations in Afganistan..

Now, should we discuss in a pub about all of the above, fine, I will be more than happy to have all US military forces out of the Italian territory and the Italian soldiers back to Italy, this for a number of reason we may want to talk about at a later stage…

BUT we are not in a pub and we are not only dealing with OUR ethic (in Italian politics? Ethic? Oh, do come along…) but with the hugher interest of the entire country …. this meaning that NOW the priority should be on government confidence and trust building “exercise”, reinforcement of the seemingly rebirthing economy, creation of a sort of national pride, a ramp up in wealth production and such trivial issues…

THEN, AFTER we all have a country as such, we can potentially talk about US, and why on Earth we should be still allied and this sort of nice and amusing questions… as of today, the left government is dire risk to give the ENTIRE country back to the right leaning parties, which incidentally, just to keep focused, would love to french kiss all the US Bush administration (how disgusting an image is needless to say..). So, to sum up, just because a couple of members of the upper chamber would like to keep their ethical, leftish verginity and say “bugger off” to Bush, the US and the entire NATO, they voted against the Government, and the final result may actually be that the end game would be worste than the outcome they wanted to fight..

Now, this is pure genius or what????

All of this just to keep the comment at basic level, without slipping into plots, doubts, the Vatican and the US alongside to fight against the Reds and such silly (really???) things…

For God’s sake, pull me off from here..

eSociety: is it for real (paradoxically)??

February 20, 2007 Leave a comment

To someone, eSociety is the largest games room ever made by mankind, in which everything is converging and the PC is no longer an “intelligent machine” but rather a powerful “remote control” to access any given game, to switch it on or off at will, and able to manage and transform video, images, music, communication and anything else that can be translated into complex 0-1 algorithms.

To others, all of the above is simply a parallel life to the physical world, and as any other life form, it needs some kind of energy to prosper. To determine which will be the “oil fields” for the virtuo-real new born beings, is the research that currently yields the highest reward for anyone, no exclusion.

This has to be put in context, given that there are cultural diversity according to the country you develop these concepts in. Which are the differences between the Los Angeles suburbia, the big US cities, Old Europe of small villages and large capitals of culture and art, the very Far East of ramping growth and large society contradictions? All of that is paramount to design an overall scenario that accommodates the current technology bulimia, extreme multitasking, continuous partial attention and the erratic behaviour of modern societies’ Bormann 10 Areas.

Some more dogmatic and pressing issues such as economics and politics are embroidered onto this social canvass, and they deeply influence the parallels between physical and virtual by pure relationship and freedom standpoints, absolutes or perceived they may be.

It would be utterly interesting to notice whether the most impressive “bit movements” are coming from which level of freedom, either objective or perceived by humans: are the World’s supposedly greatest democracies fostering the most critical movements over the Web, or rather are the most rigorous strict social systems, the one perceived as repressive, to push people to look in the electronic spirals of the Net for freedom they miss in physical world? Or is something else altogether??

The analytical effort of the complexity layers, systems in focus and the rest is a maybe tedious activity, it is perhaps academic, but it is definitely fundamental to understand which potential future may lay ahead and whether Old Europe properly intercepts the Web, and whether we all may witness different “Europe” living together, real, virtual, multitasking, mentally hyper-kinetic and at the same time hypo-critical, or an heuristic combination of all the above possibilities.

blog/web prize… gosh…

This is simply great… I just read in “Repubblica”, an Italian leading newpaper (got the online version, clearly..), that there will be a new award for blogs coming from youngsters (max 25yrs old), both Italian and “international”, as to foster the use of new technology and the development of creative reading and culture…

This is all fantastic, what sounds a bit worrying is the fact that all that culture is already on the go since quite a long time.. and awards are just flowing around in huge $$££ payoffs, just look at the “usual suspects” in the Whatever 2.0 ecosystem…

Does my lovely country come around just a touch late with awareness??? Mind you, it seems we still have troubles with foreign languages, nevermind the globalisation.. (please, no harsh comments about my English, most appreciated!!)

Gianni is a great person, we know each other since my days in London, back in ’95… He went to a tremendous amount of experiences, both professionally and human.. and since I plead I am one of his friend, I believe his humanity, his will to put is drive and energy towards higher efforts than being an excellent manager (which is a fine thing nonetheless) could make a break-through into someone’s heart…

have a look, it is really worthwhile, and who knows, we could unite forces and why not… at least once in yours life you believe you could change the world…

have all a nice eve!!
